work has increasingly become an important consideration with many
customers in the areas of analysis, firewall, antivirus, anti-spam,
and intrusion detection system implementations.

SP1, and SQL Server®
2008 deployments have become popular with
enhanced features for anti-spam,
webmail, collaboration, remote access,
and new data types, and
scalability
support.

ToolSaq™ 4.1 utility program continues to
help automate otherwise routine IT network troubleshooting tasks. Version 4.2,
is under development and will incorporate a
new ribbon bar, enhanced
graphics, and both new and
improved tools.
Accounting-based development,
often starting with prepackaged
solutions, continues for both
the Windows and Macintosh
platforms to create specific

Microsoft
Windows
Server 2008 is available and offers significant improvements.
There are both x86 and x64 editions (this
will be the last 32-bit server
release). The Hyper-V
virtualization technology offers
new options previously available
only to high end shops.
This includes legacy, scalable,
and isolation capabilities.
There are now Small Business
Server (SBS) and Essential
Business Server (EBS) based on
the Windows 2008 server platform
that includes Exchange and SQL
bundles. The licensing has
also changed, offering multiple
server support and better
pricing for larger
installations
Microsoft
Windows
Server 2008 R2, based on the same kernel as Windows 7, has been released to
manufacturing (RTM). It offers significant refinements and enhancements
over Windows 2008 while not generally compromising compatibility.
And as expected, there is only a x64 edition.
Microsoft
SQL Server 2008 is now
available for both x86 and x64
platforms with new data types,
scalability, replication, and
application development
improvements.
Microsoft
SQL Server 2008 R2 is on its way.
Microsoft Windows 7 client operating
system offers usuability of Windows XP and security of Windows Vista. It has significant UI improvements making daily
productivity much better. There are x86 and x64 editions. Look for
the product to become available in October 2009.
Microsoft
Office 2007 productivity
software is a significant
upgrade that includes a new ribbon
bar, replacing the existing
toolbar and menu options in the
core applications. This
allows for enhanced productivity
improvements, once users
acclimate to the new
innovative design. Users
that have spent time with the
new User Interface (UI) really
like it after getting over the
initial learning curve.
Mozilla
Firefox 3.5, a powerful and
feature filled, multi-platform
(Windows, Macintosh, Linux),
open source browser, is
available. This version
incorporates new visual
enhancements, additional
standards support, and security
enhancements.
Microsoft
Internet Explorer 8.0 offers key new security updates, visual enhancements, and tabbed browsing, this version is a
great follow-up to Internet Explorer 6.0 and 7.0. Many users that had
moved to Firefox because of IE 6.0 and 7.0 limitations are returning to IE 8.0.
